Senior Software Engineer (Java)

 

An opportunity is available for a Software Engineer to join an eCommerce company in Birmingham. They have seen huge growth as a business during the pandemic and they are looking for an experienced developer to help them with their next phase of growth. You will be developing complex systems as well as new systems to help solve customer and retailer issues. You will be a strong problem solver and be comfortable designing solutions. The software engineering team are working 100% remotely at the moment and will be able to offer 4 days remote working after the pandemic.   

 

Essential skills 

  • Java
  • Spring
  • Linux
  • Git/Maven
  • Junit/ TestNG
  • Experience developing large distributed systems
  • Experience building complex, multi-threaded system software

 

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in eCommerce

 

What you’ll be doing

You will be involved in the full development life cycle from planning to testing, development and support. You’ll work closely with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility. You will be writing high quality distributed system software as well as maintaining and extending existing features. You will collaborate with the development team to design and build new features end to end. There will be a focus on developing reliable, scalable, highly available apps, tools and services for a variety of end users and you will establish architectural principles and mentor more junior members on the team on their appropriate application.

 

What you’ll get in return
