Head of SHEQ,
Are you an experienced Health & Safety guru looking for a new challenge where you will be leading the development and delivery of the health and safety, environmental and quality strategy.
In this role, you will engage with the Executive Director and the Senior Leadership Team, as well as the H&S representatives, to continuously drive a positive safety culture. Alongside this, your focus will be setting SHEQ and business performance targets, to ensure there is accurate reporting against these, to monitor and share with the wider business.
Your role will ensure our partners achieve the correct standards of SHEQ, as well as ensuring priorities are established and systems are developed and up to date. You will continue to monitor and amend changes to our procedures and best practises, so we remain up to date at all times. Being a champion for SHEQ, your energetic spirit will go hand in hand engaging our colleagues and maintaining an effective two-way communication with them, to ensure they are adhering to our SHEQ standards and are comfortable to approach you.
Leading a team of four managers, you’ll naturally be an engaging and keen leader who is proactive with mentoring, upskilling and developing your team members to take on more significant duties and responsibilities.
You will also be responsible for horizon scanning, monitoring and reporting performance, and working with regulators, including the HSE, to build strong relationships, with an aim to mitigate any potential future challenges.
I am looking for someone who is use to working within a dynamic environment and is capable of developing relationships with senior stakeholders using strong influencing skills. You will be comfortable in building credibility with stakeholders to achieve positive change and impact the organisation’s culture.
You will already be extremely experienced in managing a SHEQ function, preferably within construction, utilities, civil engineering or a related industry. Equally important is your strategic vision with the ability to identify innovative ideas and convert these into successful projects, which have a tangible impact on performance.
Along with extensive experience within a Senior SHEQ role, the perfect candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of UK Health and Safety legislation, and ideally be a member of the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (ISOH).
